I recently discovered an excellent design blog, Brooklyn Modern, and wanted to spread the word to the readers of Rethink and Reuse, especially any NYC-based readers.
Written by a Brooklyn-based freelance art director and furniture designer, Brooklyn Modern focuses on subject matter similar to Rethink and Reuse, but with a geographical (Brooklyn) tie-in. In the flesh, the man known in cyberspace as "Brooklyn Modern" reworks existing furniture in addition to constructing custom pieces.
The content on Brooklyn Modern often focuses on repurposed objects, such as wine barrels-turned-furniture, but the site also highlights Brooklyn area stores and artists that are into repurposing. If you live in NYC and are looking for a vintage modern, socially responsible decorating style, Brooklyn Modern should be your new bible.
Brooklyn Modern is going to submit a reworked piece, which is currently under construction, to Rethink and Reuse this fall.
